Birthday Surprise!

Love Hurts: Rigoletto & Blue Is the Warmest Color

I'm walking around Greenwich Village on Monday afternoon and suddenly my dear friend Marina calls me and like "We can go to the Metropolitan Today, I have a ticket for you". So I'm skipping half of the lecture and running to the Lincoln Center to see Rigoletto. You never know, how your day is gonna end:) Btw, Dmitry Khvorostovskiy performed Rigoletto, I never knew, he had such a soft sounding voice.
The next day my classmates and I go to the BAM to see Blue Is the Warmest Color. Great movie, makes you horny, hungry and life loving. It's not about lesbians, it's about human relationship. And you know what? It hurts sometimes. It even hurts often. But that's how you become bigger/better/wiser/stronger of a person.
It's kinda weird, that in two days  I happened to see two love stories so different from each other. First one -old, tragic, lethal, second one - modern, optimistic, beautifully shot. Show your love!

Я занимаюсь своими понедельничными делами, хожу по Гринвич Виладж, и, вдруг, мне звонит моя подруга Марина и говорит "Пойдем в Метрополитан, у меня есть для тебя билет". Я ухожу с середины лекции и бегу в Линкольн Центр, на Риголетто в Метрополитан Опера. Никогда не знаешь, как закончится день:) Кстати, Дмитрий Хворостовский исполнял партию Риголетто, никогда бы не подумала, что у него такой мягкий голос.
На следующий день вместе с одноклассниками собрались в БАМ (культурный центр в Бруклине), чтобы посмотреть Синий Самый Теплый Цвет (Жизнь Адели в российском прокате). Отличное кино, оставляет тебя голодным, возбужденным и любящим жизнь. И оно не столько о лесбиянках, сколько о человеческих взаимоотношениях. И знаете что? Они иногда причиняют боль. Даже часто. Но именно так ты становишься взрослее, лучше, мудрее, сильнее. 
Вобщем, даже странно, что за два дня я посмотрела две такие разные истории любви. Первая - старая,трагическая, смертельная. Вторая - новая, оптимистичная, визуально очень красивая. Любите друг друга!

Getting Older in NYC

My last birthday was spent on a railroad station. My friend and I were drinking and saying bye to our other friend going to St.Petersburg. Who knew that the next Birthday I'll be spending in NYC with so many amazing people around me.
It was our school presentation day, so that day and not only I delivered a speech, but also went to a newly open bar with people from the class and ordered about 50 shots of vodka for everyone.
And yes, I don't have any pics - I was too busy enjoying myself:)))

Свой прошлый день рожденья я встретила на вокзале. Мы с подругой пили и провожали нашего знакомого в Питер. Кто бы мог подумать, что следующий ДР я буду отмечать в Нью-Йорке с таким количеством замечательных людей вокруг меня. 
В этот день мы должны были представить наш проект, так что толкнула речь со сцены и мы пошли в только что открывшийся бар, где я на радостях заказала по-моему около 50 шотов водки для всех. И да, фотографий нет, мне было не до этого:))

The Day When I Went Blonde

Halloween is a great excuse to get crazy, stupid, funny and absolutely extravagant. It was my first big celebration.
And NewYorkers take it really serious - the whole city went nuts! I like when people don't take them too serious and make fun of themselves by putting on funny costumes. Get Stupid!

Spooky Halloween Getaway From New York - Sleepy Hollow

When you forget, how does the tree look like and what exactly is a leaf - you have to get out of the city.

1. Plan ahead - you want to make sure you are with the best crew on that special day

2. Level up excitement - no boring "i can't survive outside the city" talks or "there is nothing to see outside New York" 

3. Dress accordingly - boots, gloves, coat, hat - you don't wanna be whining that you are cold

4. Do your research - you want to be well informed bout the place you are going to

5. Take you camera and don't be afraid to fool around!

Our great plan: Zipcar rental (cheap and easy), apple picking on the Willkins Farm and the rest of the day walking around the spooky Sleepy Hollow and nice dining

Когда вы забываете, как выглядит дерево или что именно называется листом - значит, вам пора уехать из города. 
1. Планируйте заранее - этот день точно захочется провести с вашими хорошими друзьями
2. Радуйтесь вашим планам - никаких скучных разговоров, что в деревне нечего делать или что кроме Нью-Йорка на свете не существует интересных мест
3. Одевайтесь соответственно = ботинки, перчатки, куртка, шапка - а то будете ныть, что вам холодно
4. Почитайте заранее про место, куда вы собираетесь - будьте подготовленными
5. Возьмите фотоаппарат и подурачьтесь!

Наш великолепный план состоял из: аренды машины в ZipCar (дешево и удобно), сбора яблок на Ферме Уилкинсон и прогулок по Сонной Лощине.
