Love Hurts: Rigoletto & Blue Is the Warmest Color

I'm walking around Greenwich Village on Monday afternoon and suddenly my dear friend Marina calls me and like "We can go to the Metropolitan Today, I have a ticket for you". So I'm skipping half of the lecture and running to the Lincoln Center to see Rigoletto. You never know, how your day is gonna end:) Btw, Dmitry Khvorostovskiy performed Rigoletto, I never knew, he had such a soft sounding voice.
The next day my classmates and I go to the BAM to see Blue Is the Warmest Color. Great movie, makes you horny, hungry and life loving. It's not about lesbians, it's about human relationship. And you know what? It hurts sometimes. It even hurts often. But that's how you become bigger/better/wiser/stronger of a person.
It's kinda weird, that in two days  I happened to see two love stories so different from each other. First one -old, tragic, lethal, second one - modern, optimistic, beautifully shot. Show your love!

Я занимаюсь своими понедельничными делами, хожу по Гринвич Виладж, и, вдруг, мне звонит моя подруга Марина и говорит "Пойдем в Метрополитан, у меня есть для тебя билет". Я ухожу с середины лекции и бегу в Линкольн Центр, на Риголетто в Метрополитан Опера. Никогда не знаешь, как закончится день:) Кстати, Дмитрий Хворостовский исполнял партию Риголетто, никогда бы не подумала, что у него такой мягкий голос.
На следующий день вместе с одноклассниками собрались в БАМ (культурный центр в Бруклине), чтобы посмотреть Синий Самый Теплый Цвет (Жизнь Адели в российском прокате). Отличное кино, оставляет тебя голодным, возбужденным и любящим жизнь. И оно не столько о лесбиянках, сколько о человеческих взаимоотношениях. И знаете что? Они иногда причиняют боль. Даже часто. Но именно так ты становишься взрослее, лучше, мудрее, сильнее. 
Вобщем, даже странно, что за два дня я посмотрела две такие разные истории любви. Первая - старая,трагическая, смертельная. Вторая - новая, оптимистичная, визуально очень красивая. Любите друг друга!

Getting Older in NYC

My last birthday was spent on a railroad station. My friend and I were drinking and saying bye to our other friend going to St.Petersburg. Who knew that the next Birthday I'll be spending in NYC with so many amazing people around me.
It was our school presentation day, so that day and not only I delivered a speech, but also went to a newly open bar with people from the class and ordered about 50 shots of vodka for everyone.
And yes, I don't have any pics - I was too busy enjoying myself:)))

Свой прошлый день рожденья я встретила на вокзале. Мы с подругой пили и провожали нашего знакомого в Питер. Кто бы мог подумать, что следующий ДР я буду отмечать в Нью-Йорке с таким количеством замечательных людей вокруг меня. 
В этот день мы должны были представить наш проект, так что толкнула речь со сцены и мы пошли в только что открывшийся бар, где я на радостях заказала по-моему около 50 шотов водки для всех. И да, фотографий нет, мне было не до этого:))

And NewYorkers take it really serious - the whole city went nuts! I like when people don't take them too serious and make fun of themselves by putting on funny costumes. Get Stupid!

Spooky Halloween Getaway From New York - Sleepy Hollow

When you forget, how does the tree look like and what exactly is a leaf - you have to get out of the city.

1. Plan ahead - you want to make sure you are with the best crew on that special day

2. Level up excitement - no boring "i can't survive outside the city" talks or "there is nothing to see outside New York" 

3. Dress accordingly - boots, gloves, coat, hat - you don't wanna be whining that you are cold

4. Do your research - you want to be well informed bout the place you are going to

5. Take you camera and don't be afraid to fool around!

Our great plan: Zipcar rental (cheap and easy), apple picking on the Willkins Farm and the rest of the day walking around the spooky Sleepy Hollow and nice dining

1. Планируйте заранее - этот день точно захочется провести с вашими хорошими друзьями
2. Радуйтесь вашим планам - никаких скучных разговоров, что в деревне нечего делать или что кроме Нью-Йорка на свете не существует интересных мест
3. Одевайтесь соответственно = ботинки, перчатки, куртка, шапка - а то будете ныть, что вам холодно
4. Почитайте заранее про место, куда вы собираетесь - будьте подготовленными
5. Возьмите фотоаппарат и подурачьтесь!

Наш великолепный план состоял из: аренды машины в ZipCar (дешево и удобно), сбора яблок на Ферме Уилкинсон и прогулок по Сонной Лощине.

5 Moments You Think You Are Actually Becoming a New Yorker

1. You start wearing all black. And pair it with the army boots. It's also good to have a hoodie on and all natural make-up - it all makes you look tough city jungle Amazonian
2. You act like you don't notice crazy people around or crazy things happening around you. The cooler you act - the better. Like whateeeever....
3. Walking like 10 blocks under the wind? Noooooo problem....
4. You are becoming really picky on the pizza side
5. Every conversation with a stranger starts with bitching about the housing situation. And that's actually how you make friends

1. Начинаешь носить все черное. И армейские сапоги. И желательно еще капюшон на голову и практически без макияжа - так ты все больше похожа на лихую амазонку в городских джунглях
2. Ты как будто не замечаешь сумасшедших людей вокруг. Чем спокойнее ты реагируешь - тем круче. Подуууумаешь...
3. Пройти 10 кварталов под леденящим ветром? Да не задумываясь...

5. Все разговоры с незнакомцами начинаются с жалоб на жилье. Собственно, так друзьями и становятся.

New York Music Scene - First Try, TECLA

It is widely known, that New York City music scene is huge. Unfortunately, I don't have an opportunity to go to every single show, even that I enjoy great performance.

Anyway, here comes my first and very strong recommendation - TECLA. Her music is a an extraordinary mixture of hip-hop, dubstep and reggae. I got to see show at the Tammany Hall and it was a pleasure to both my ears and body:))). She actually sang staying on her head, how crazy is that. 

 So, ladies and gentlemen - TECLA! And some pics of me and my friends on that night. 

Вcем хорошо известно, что музыкальная индустрия в Нью-Йорке огромная. Жаль, что не всегда получается ходить на концерт, хотя я и очень люблю интересных артистов. 
В любом случае, вот вам моя первая и очень страстная рекомендация - TECLA. Ее музыка это невероятная смесь из хип-хопа, дабстепа, регги и всего того, что ей симпатично. Концерт проходил в Tammany Hall, и это было сплошное удовольствие как для ушей, так и для тела:))) Она пела, стоя на голове, как вам такое, например.

Take It Easy

I start having trouble sleeping. That is because I'm generally so excited about living in New York, I want to engage in everything and overachieve. Obviously, there is no enough time, I am pretty sad that that there are only 24 hours. So I was laying in bed with eyes wide open and running thousands of thoughts through my head. Next morning I woke up and had a terrible headache and generally looked like a plum (weird comparison, I know:).
So, for all of you - enthusiasts, overachievers, ambitious and passionate - TAKE IT EASY! Just wear a ridiculous hippy headband, red lipstick and enjooooyyyy.

У меня начинается бессонница. Я так взолнована, что живу в Нью-Йорке, у меня куча проектов и во всех них я хочу преуспеть. Очевидно, что времени на все не хватает, огорчает тот факт, что в сутках всего 24 часа. Ну и вот я лежу с широко открытыми глазами, и через мою голову пробегают тысячи мыслей. Следующим утром я просыпаюсь с ужасной головной болью и вобщем выгляжу как слива (странное сравнение...).
Итак, для всех вас - энтузиастов, преуспевающих, амбициозных и страстных - РАССЛАБЬТЕСЬ! Нацепите на голову смешной хиппи платок, накрасьтесь красной помадой и наслаждайтесь жизнью:)

Shopping paradise

I had a really festive day, cause went shopping for my family at Macy's and got to try all those beautiful shoes they have there. Discovered the brand Joe's - it's originally from LA and is both chic and simple.
For all of you internationals - always remember that you can get a 10%off at Macy's and always talk to people at the cashier's cause you never know what kind of promotions they might also have.
That way I saved 20% on my step-dad's Tommy Hilfiger office shirts (he likes American classics and always asks to send it over to him.

У меня был замечательный день, потому что я ходила покупать подарки для своей семьи в Macy's и перемерила там огромное количество прекрасных туфель. Открыла для себя бренд Joe's - он родом из Лос Анджелеса, одновременно шикарный и простой. Мои иностранные друзья, не забывайте, что в Macy's вы всегда можете получить 10% скидку при предъвлении своего паспорта. И всегда разговаривайте с кассирами и консультантами  - могут быть какие-то распродажи или акции, которые пока не объявлены, но ими уже можно пользоваться. так я сэкономила 20% на рубашках Tommy Hilfiger для моего отчима (он очень любит американскую классику и всегда просит ее присылать).

Crazy Wednesday

What can really be confusing when living in a city like New York is how not to get crazy while trying to achieve many goals. I have to admit, that sometimes I feel really overwhelmed by the schedule I created for myself and by myself.
For instance, on Wednesday, I woke up at 7 am to be on time for the shooting. I was doing my photo essay assignment. Being a photographer is a lot of work!

During the day I was doing errands and in the evening I went to see a very funny Chris Gethard Show. They stream it live and do all kinds of crazy stuff that comes to their mind! Which I love:) Actually, living in NYC is a really great opportunity to get to visit all the famous TV productions. I really wanna go see Jimmy Fallon! 

Uhhhhh, I came home at 2am... Fell on a bed and slept for just a couple of hours to get up early for the next exciting day, when I will be running around the city like a crazy person trying to do everything...



Что может быть действительно не очень понятным в таком городе как Нью-Йорк - это как не сойти с ума в погоне за своими целями. Должна признаться, что иногда я ужасно устаю от расписания, которое сама себя придумываю. 
Например, в среду я проснулась в 7 утра, чтобы успеть на съемку. Я выполняла задание по фотоэссе. Быть фотографом это очен тяжело!
В течение дня я бегала по всяким делам а вечером пошла смотреть очень смешное шоу Криса Гетарда ( Chris Gethard Show). Это шоу в прямом эфире, они воплощают все идиотские и смешные идеи, которые им в голову приходят. А мне такой подход очень симпатичен:) Вообще, в Нью-Йорке есть масса возможностей посетить все самые известные шоу. Я очень хочу сходить на Джимми Фэллона!
Охх, ну пришла я домой в 2 ночи...Упала на кровать и поспала несколько часов, чтоб на следующее утро опять встать спозаранку и бегать по этому городу как сумасшедшая, пытаясь успеть все. 

Tom Hanks, New York Film Festival and Chanel earings

This week was pretty fruitful. I guess, subconsсiously, I'm trying to create the schedule as crazy and tight as it was in Moscow.
So on Tuesday I danced on my bed, because my editor sent me a link to my first article bout New York. This is my first published piece and I was so happy about it and I love the Big City magazine!

But the week ended even better - I got a spot on the red carpet to cover for TV Rain the arrivals for the new movie "Captain Philips". I got to speak to Tom Hanks (only one question), his handsome screenwriter Billy Ray, somalian actors Faysal and Mahat and captain Richard Philips himself!

Unfortunately, I had troubles with sending the materials to Moscow, so (DAMN, DAMN, DAMN) my report went out without the interviews:( That's a good lesson for me - always check the file format. I didn't go to sleep that night and was sending files to TV Rain people...

Here is My First Ever TV News Report!

Эта неделя была весьма плодотворной. Мне кажется, подсознательно я пытаюсь сделать себе такое же сумасшедшее расписание, как и было у меня в Москве.
Во вторник я танцевала на кровати, потому что мой редактор прислала мне ссылку на мою первую статью. Это мое первое опубликованное творение, и я так рада, и так люблю журнал Большой Город!  
Но неделя закончилась еще лучше - я была репортером на красной дорожке фильма "Капитан Филипс". Мне посчастливилось задать один вопрос Тому Хенксу, поговорить с его привлекательным сценаристом Билли Реем, сомалийскими актерами Файсалом и Махатом и самим капитаном Ричардом Филипсом!
К сожалению, были огромные проблемы с пересылкой материала в Москву, поэтому (БЛИН, БЛИН,БЛИН) сюжет вышел без интервью:( Это хороший мне урок - проверять формат файлов. Я в ту ночь вообще не спала и отправляла материалы на канал...
